Clarifications about OA privatization process

Given certain concerns expressed regarding the smooth continuation of Olympic Airlines’ flight operations following the announcement of the Company’s privatization plan by Greek Transport Minister, Mr. Konstantinos Hatzidakis, the Company would like to clarify the following:

● The European Commission in Brussels has reviewed and authorized the proposed privatization process for Olympic Airlines by a decision dated 17

September 2008.

● The privatization process will come to effect through a set-up of a new subsidiary company of Olympic Airlines, following a tender process for a private minority investor. Following conclusion of the tender process, a private investor will initially acquire a minority shareholding in the new company, the Olympic subsidiary, following which there will be an interim, transitional period of approximately four months ending in spring 2009. Olympic Airlines will only terminate its activities after all transition procedures will be completed.

● Coordinated transition arrangements, well planned in advance, will ensure that the Company meets all of its outstanding obligations to the market, including its passengers, the Travel Agents and Suppliers. This issue was explicitly referred to in the Government’s announcement (which followed the European Commission’s authorization of the privatization plan), with a view to alleviating any likely concerns and providing the appropriate degree of comfort to Olympic’s suppliers.

The approved sale process does not and will not affect at all Olympic Airlines’ ongoing flight operations for the coming months while the privatization process is implemented. For the 2008/2009-winter period, the published schedule will operate as planned.

New E-check in service

Implementing a strategy with improvement of the distribution channels and the adoption of new technologies in order to provide new and improved services to passengers, Olympic Airlines has upgraded the e-check in services available at the company’s new updated website www.olympicairlines.com .

As from the 3rd September 2008, e-ticket passengers traveling on Olympic Airlines flights from Greek domestic to international destinations, with or without luggage, are able to use the new e-check in service. This service is available 24 hours and up to 90 minutes before the scheduled flight.

Namely, the procedures for domestic and international flights are:

  1. Domestic flights

Passengers traveling without luggage can check in for their flight using the company's website www.olympicairlines.com , receive instructions online and go directly to the gate with the boarding pass they printed themselves.

If passengers have luggage, they should go to the dedicated web check-in desks in major Greek airports, to drop the luggage off (the boarding pass will provide additional instructions).

  1. International flights

Passengers traveling to an international destination, either directly or taking a connecting flight, can do the e-check in using the company’s website www.olympicairlines.com , and print a receipt.

The receipt is not a boarding pass, nor does it provide access to controlled airport areas; passengers still need to go to the airport’s web check-in counter, have their travel documents checked and collect their boarding pass.

E-check in is not available to the following passengers:

  • Disabled passengers in need of special service by the airport services (visually impaired persons, persons with motor disabilities, etc.);
  • Passengers with pets;
  • Unaccompanied minors aged 12 or less;
  • Passengers traveling with children under 2 years old.

These passengers need to go to the airport’s check in counter or contact the Web Check In Help Desk (+30.210.9666319), or even send an email (for any problem/query about the web check in) to webcheckin@olympicairlines.gr .

Thank you for choosing Olympic Airlines for your trip.

New and better services at the revamped Olympic Airlines website

In order to better facilitate and upgrade the services to their passengers in both the Domestic and International routes, Olympic Airlines has revamped their website at www.olympicairlines.com, substantially upgrading their services.

The goal of Olympic Airlines is to establish their new website as a reliable and inexpensive means for the routine exchange between the airline and its passengers, and soon thereafter Travel Agents and Businesses.

In addition to being a useful tool for passengers and the tourism industry, the new website upgrades the presence of Olympic Airlines in the Internet, creating the basis for the successful implementation of their strategic decision to develop new channels of distribution for tickets, especially those that offer the highest potential for dynamic expansion like the Internet. In recent months, revenues from the electronic sales of tickets in the website of Olympic Airlines are showing a growth rate of 80% annually.

The company is also forecasting increased visitation to its Internet site, which currently is averaging 500,000 visitors per day globally.

The journey begins here: www.olympicairlines.com

For passengers, the website of the Company is proving to be the best start for any trip within Greece or beyond, since it offers new esthetics, rich content and cutting edge technology, all of which upgrade the available services for purchasing tickets online as well for electronic check-in.

Travelers have every good reason to begin their voyage from the renewed and upgraded website of the company at www.olympicairlines.com, since this is the place where they will find all the great fares and special offers for the company’s Domestic and International network.

All this in a user friendly environment, where they can purchase their airline tickets, using their credit card, selecting flights and fares which best suit their needs from a large variety of fare options and routes.

Electronic check-in offers to the Domestic flight passengers who are traveling with carry-on bags, the ability to avoid check-in lines, to select their seat assignment on-line. Very soon, these same services will become available for almost all passengers of Olympic Airlines, Domestic or International, regardless of whether they have luggage to check or not.

Additionally, within the next few months a new Business-to-Business (B2B) electronic facility will be implemented, which will enable faster, better and more efficient servicing of the needs of Travel Agents and Businesses.

As for its improved content, the new web site of Olympic Airlines contains a wealth of practical information, as well as the most important facts in the history of the company. The Olympic Airlines profile includes detailed data about their Network, Staff, Fleet and partner airlines and of course, Corporate news.

Furthermore, there is extensive content about the renewed Frequent Flyer Program of Olympic Airlines, ICARUS. This program offers its members attractive benefits and substantial mileage for redemption.

The site gives special attention to two areas where Olympic Airlines has achieved a position of leadership in the market: Flight Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Company’s new website also offers detailed information about Airport and In-flight services, including Special services for young or unaccompanied children, and persons with special needs. There is also information about travel requirement for animals, Cargo services, as well as Passenger Baggage.

Finally, the site offers tourist and other user information, from the most interesting sites to visit to the weather, time zone and necessary documents required for the trip to every destination serviced by Olympic Airlines.
